BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill

BP Oil Spill

Are you eligible for reimbursement?

In May 2012, a Federal Court granted preliminary approval of a class action settlement related to the BP Deepwater Horizon spill that occurred in April, 2010.  If your business was headquartered or had a primary location near Florida’s coastal waters, you may be eligible to submit a claim.

While it may seem to you that the economic loss suffered by your business is unrelated to the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the Class Action Settlement covers what is referred to as a “trickle down” effect caused by the oil spill in certain regions of the state.  This “trickle down” effect is what may have caused your economic loss.  Your company may have directly or indirectly suffered an economic impact that would make you eligible to submit a claim, if your business experienced a decline in gross revenue in 2010 as compared to 2007, 2008 and/or 2009 gross revenue, and experienced a slight rebound in 2011 gross revenue compared to 2010 gross revenue.

It will be important to compare any decreases in your business revenue in 2010 to your prior revenue history, as well as lost investments in new businesses. The attorneys at The Whittemore Law Group, P.A., along with a group of accountants will conduct a financial analysis in order to determine whether or not you may be eligible to submit a claim.

There is still time to file a claim, but do not wait too long in making this decision. The attorneys at The Whittemore Law Group, P.A. are prepared to assist you in protecting your legal rights in order to ensure that your business receives the compensation to which it is entitled.  Call us today to determine whether or not you are entitled to restitution.
