Kent G. Whittemore
Kent G. Whittemore is a shareholder and president of The Whittemore Law Group, P.A. of St. Petersburg, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida in 1970, where he was a member of the varsity golf team and Vice-President of his fraternity-Sigma Chi, and received a JD degree from the Stetson University College of Law in 1973. He has been active in his community, being a member of the Suncoasters, having been Chairman of the Environmental Development Commission, having served on St. Petersburg's Charter Review Commission and having graduated from Leadership St. Petersburg.
Professionally, Kent is a Past President of the St. Petersburg Bar Association and a Past President of the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association. He has served on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Florida Justice Association (former the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers) and is a Past President of the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association (2003-2004), a sustaining member of the American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America) and a member and Director of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association. Kent is also a member of the Pinellas County Trial Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice before all state courts in Florida, the Supreme Court of Florida and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. His primary areas of practice include the representation of plaintiffs in personal injury claims, product liability litigation, insurance disputes and in real estate and business litigation. He is a frequent lecturer in the areas of his practice.
Kent and his wife Kathy, a graduate of Florida State University and an ARNP, live in St. Petersburg. Their son, Ryan, has BSBA and MBA degrees from the University of Florida, and is currently earning his J.D. at Stetson University College of Law. Their daughter, Erin, has a BA degree from the University of Florida and a J.D. from Stetson University College of Law and joined the firm as an Associate in 2012. The Whittemore’s attend Maximo Presbyterian Church, where Kent and Kathy have been active elders. They enjoy traveling, fishing, scuba diving, and golf, with Kent having won four St. Petersburg Country Club golf championships, the St. Petersburg City Amateur golf championship and the Miami Metropolitan Amateur golf championship.
